What is Art?

What is Modern Art?

Prague is rich in culture, especially Art.

Modern Art isn't for the faint hearted, but I have embraced it lately.

David Cerny is a very contraversial Czech artist. I will go throught so of his most famous structures.

Born in December 15, 1967 in Prague, he gained attention in 1991 by  painting a Soviet tank pink that served as a war memorial in central  Prague. As the Monument to Soviet tank crews was still a national cultural monument at that time, his act of civil disobedience was considered “hooliganism” and he  was briefly arrested. All for the love of art?

The Peeing Statues.

Just outside the Kafka museum, you will find Cerny's peeing statues, and yes they move and rotate as they pee! The word is that the statues are of Hitler and Stalin and they are peeing on noneother than the Czech Republic.

What is this I ass?

Out the back of the modern art museum is one of Cerny weird creations. Two giant asses with a ladder in which one can enter the ass hole, if brave enough. Inside the hole is a videor of two Czech politicians feeding each other baby food to Queen's song 'We are the Champions.' Hidden message, who knows?

Babies, babies!

In Kampa Island, one will find Cerny's babies. They are very strange with hollow faces and they are crawling. No better opportunity for a photo plank. There are also some of Cerny's babies crawling up Tv tower in Zizkov. Tv tower was voted Prague's most ugliest building. It looks so out of place with beautiful Prague.

St.Vaclav (Good King Wenceslas)

In Lucerna palace one will find a mock of the statue on Wenceslas square. St Wensceslas is riding a horse upside down, this sculture is hanging from the ceiling in Lucerna palace. Is this disrespectful or just Cerny's sense of humour?

Just hanging around?

This is one of my favourite sculptures, a hanging man in the sky. Don't forget to always look up or you might miss art.
