Thursday 7th February

It had finally arrived, the first day of Carnaval! Unfortunately for most of us we still had exams on the Friday, so weren’t planning on getting involved in anything, we instead stuck it out at home or in the library with revision, so unfortunately there was not much to be said for us on the first official day of Carnaval de Cádiz 2013. However I think we got away lightly with it as when we were out and about not much did seem to be happening, or maybe we just missed it all. After consulting our timetables we realised that most of the events were indoors that day anyway and so you probably needed a ticket or an invite to get into them. However we did see several people near to the Town Hall in what seemed to be some form of traditional dress which was really cool, I only wish I knew what it was! The only other things that we noticed that were related to Carnaval were that the lights have now been switched on and there is an influx of living statues and people who come to your table at dinner to try and sell you jewellery and other trinkets.
