Daily live in Sevilla #2
Hey there, here I am once again, surprised and proud of myself to actually keep updating this blog so frequently...
It's thursday afternoon and my weekend has officially started 3 hours ago, so time for a little update. Week started with classes of criminal law and a written test.. nasty things but really interesting to see what spanish law lecturers expect from their students and I can only say that my first impressions of spanish university have been confirmed: It is a joke.
After heading home again I basically spend the whole afternoon and evening learning.... (btw that's what it looks like in Sevilla at 5 pm, I know it is pitch-black in germany at that time ;)
....for the next exams that were expecting us on tuesday... 2 tests in particular - law of the european union and constiutucional law, continuing what the first test had already proven. To be honest I never wanna be represented in court by a spanish lawyer now I know what they have to achieve to become one :D
When we had gotten over those we felt like celebrating, so after I had watched football in a german bar (bar Ingrid, nice place buy the way, staff speaks german and spanish, very friendly people and it might be the only place in the city to broadcast german football), my flatemate and I drank some beer to warm up til we finally headed over to bar Rucko and Roll. This might be one of the most popular and therefore crowded but yet fun place to spend tuesday nights. First of all: Beer and Sangria 1 Euro til 12, then 1,50 the whole night through. Second: Beer Pong Tournament. Starting around 12, the tournament features really bitterly put up fights between nations from all over the world, from brazil to poland, from italy to mexico... This tournament is meant to be a fun thing but once it starts, people like forget about fun and it seriously becomes a harsh fought battle for pride, patriotism and honor.. that's when fun becomes serious quarrel and friendship is forgotten because you'd rather die that lose against the other students that now have become your worst enemies... That whole thing really gets stired till one team wins and the atmosphere explodes into a nimbus of self-confidence, malicious joy and dissapointment. Then you hit the bar, get a drink together and everything that had happend the last 15 minutes is just... over. Not merely forgotten, but even forgiven. Thats really what i love about this event. It is really just students meeting and having fun, energetic battles in between and fun again...
The tournament lasts til around 2 or 3.. that's when you should decide to get some fresh air, because the bar is likely to become a place for champagne showers - unless you're the winning team, of course.. ;)
The next day, wednesday, we had class at 1, so I could use the morning to look for some german bread. there is a german bakery in the north of the city... Lucky me I had visited the office of SEVici and demanded my Sevici-card - ah I remember to had used that as a cliffhanger the last time: Sevici is a system of public bicylces with stations at every corner in the city. It works like this: You subscribe online and pay 30 euros. Then you (normally) wait around two weeks to recieve a card, that is required to use the bikes. (I had been waiting 30 days and got really pissed off, so I just went to their office and demanded that damn card, so the printed it and gave it to me immediately). Once you got your card, you search for a station, like a dock for the bycicles, scan your card, enter a pin code and take one of the bikes. You can then use it for 30 minutes. Once you have reached your destination, you just click the bike into the station... and thats it. Now I got my card I am using it all the time, it's unbelievably useful.
Here's a random foto I took when going to the sevici office: People doing a hunger strike, no clue why they were demonstrating, just was gawping at strange people doing strange things.
That's it for the moment, next time: Madrid!!!
Saludos
