Erasmus Experience in Bilbao, Spain by Zsuzsanna
Why did you choose to go to Bilbao, Spain?
I would to go to visit Spain and I make a very big and long visiting finally :D
How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?
I'm sad because the erasmus doesn't think about trips. Here are a lot of trips and they give the money what is enough for the meals and school and transport. Just a bit for trips could be better :D
What is the student lifestyle like in Bilbao?
I really recommend Bilbao for everyone. It's so beautiful and you can find a lot of fun here with great people. You can go to parties, trips and just meetings. The teachers at school are so so helpful and kind and funny and they teach you for life not just the basic things about the subject.
Would you recommend the city and the University of Bilbao to other students?
Yes, of course. I think this is one of the best place what you can choose.
What is the food like?
I prefer to cook for myself. Here are a lot of supermarkets, special shops or if you prefer the restaurants you can find a lot. You can get discounts at some places if you are a student.
Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Bilbao?
It's a bit difficult to find a flat in a good place and good price but not impossible.
How much does it cost to live in Bilbao?
For me it's a bit more expensive than at home (Hungary). But I thought it will be more expensive.
Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?
Yes, they are available. I'm at the Universidad de Deusto. We can take the Spanish and Basque course too and an intensive Spanish before the semester. So it's cool. I really like it.
What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Bilbao from your city?
Car or public transport and after that by plain.
Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Bilbao?
Here you can find a lot of kind of organization for free and for price too. I can't recommend, everybody can choose what they like :)
And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Bilbao?
The same like with the party.
What good cultural sites are there to visit?
Here are a lot of museums, sculptures, theatre, cinema, library etc.
Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Bilbao in the future?
Go for a lot of trips near to Bilbao and more far too. Spain is beautiful, all the sights but the Basque Country is a wonder.
