Why did you decide to go to Bilbao, Spain?

I had already travelled through the Basque country whilst interrailing through the Iberian peninsula, and I was definitely enchanted.

How long was your scholarship? How much grant money did you receive?

I received €230 a month for 10 months.

How was student life in Bilbao?

Very good, the university was well organised and the people were pleasant and friendly.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Bilbao to other students?

Absolutely yes.

What’s the food like in Spain?

Good.

Was it difficult to find accomodation?

No, I found a place to live after a couple days.

What was the cost of living in Bilbao?

With everything included I spent between €600-€700 on average.

How was the language? Did you attend any courses at the university?

I attended a course and learnt a lot.

What’s the cheapest way to get to Bilbao from your city?

It was necessary to take 2 flights from Sicily, going via either Rome or Milan, with layovers in Italy. It's also possible to stopover in Barcelona. Another option is to fly to Santander and take a bus to Bilbao.

Where are the best places to go out in Bilbao?

Fever, Sonora, Casco Viejo, Abando, Indautxu, The Image, Bunker, calle Iturribide, calle Pozas and many more.

And eating in Bilbao? What are your favourite places?

Berton on Casco Viejo, for life.

And for a cultural visit?

Guggenheim for sure!
