Why did you choose to go to Bilbao, Spain?
To study, it's a town close to France and it's very nice.
How long is your stay? How much financial help do you receive?
1 year, I receive a number of grants: CROUS (regional organisation providing student bursaries), Ministry and an excellence grant.
How do you find the student atmosphere in Bilbao?
Really very good, there are lots of parties organised, nice and understanding people.
Would you recommend the city and the University of Bilbao to other students?
Yes!
What do you think of the country's food?
Les pintxos (like tapas, small dishes to choose a mix of) are the specialty, very good, cheap but greasy.
Did you have any problems finding accommodation in Bilbao?
A bit, you really have to visit the places beforehand because the photos don't show the full story.
What's the living cost in Bilbao?
A lot cheaper compared to France.
How do you find learning the language? Have you attended any courses ran by the University?
You learn very quickly when you do Spanish courses and when you make friends there. I don't do courses here but they are available for Erasmus students.
What's the cheapest way to get to Bilbao form your city?
I carshare (I drive) and it's about 20 euros.
Which places would you recommend to go partying in Bilbao?
Casco Viejo et Poza to have a drink, "Fever" and "Back and Stage" for the nightclubs.
What about eating in Bilbao? What are you favourite places?
Casco Viejo (Bar Charly) and in the city in general.
What cultural visits would you recommend?
Guggenheim, Gexto (Port) and Sopelana (Beach).
Do you have any advice for future Bilbao students?
Make some friends from Bilbao!
