My Erasmus experience in Berlin, Germany, by Isabella
How did you find living in Berlin? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?
I grew up here. The city has everything. It is the greenest city in Europe but at the same time is very urban.
You can totally be yourself here. No one will judge you based on your appearance.
What is student life like in Berlin?
Diverse and international. Berlin doesn't really have a 'centre' but every district has it's own 'centre'. There is a real sense of neighbourhoods which makes it easy for people to find the perfect one for them.
What is the cost of living like in Berlin?
It's difficult to find accommodation but you'll spend a lot less on everything else. Entry into clubs is cheap and everything else is, too.
Is it difficult to find accommodation in Berlin? Any advice?
Start your search early.
What about food? What are your favourite dishes?
Like in every other major city, you'll find food from all over the world in Berlin.
What should you absolutely visit in Berlin?
Definitely the Picture Gallery and also go to the suburbs. You can buy a Brandenburgticket for 30€ (30€ for 5 people for the whole day) to Travemünde and you can also do other great trips.
Can you eat out well in Berlin? Where are your favourite places?
You should go to the 'Tiergartenquelle' if you want to experience a typical Berlin pub. They also serve homemade food and Berlin delicacies.
What about the nightlife? Where is best to go out?
You can either do your research and see what interests you or take advice from others. Go out and find out.
Any advice for future students in Berlin?
Explore and ask lots of questions.
