My Erasmus experience in Berlin, Germany by Ahmed
How long did you stay in Berlin? How much funding did you receive?
I was there for one month and received €1500.
What is student life like in Berlin?
Everything is well organised and prepared for the many students in Berlin.
Would you recommend the city and university of Berlin to other students?
Yes, of course!
What was the food like?
For me, a total nightmare because it was all new to me. I had never tried it before.
But there were a lot of Arab restaurants that I really liked.
Did you have to pay a lot for accommodation?
No, not at all. There are lots of options. You can find a decent apartment on Facebook.
What is the cost of living like?
It depends on your lifestyle. But I would say that €1000 a month would be sufficient for a student.
How did you find the language? Did the university offer language courses?
I didn't have any problems with the language because you can speak English in most places in Germany. Even if your German isn't great, you can still try. Germans are helpful and your language skills will improve over time.
What is the cheapest way of getting to Berlin?
Using the grant from the DaaD!
Are there any interesting cultural attractions?
The Berlin Wall, the Brandenburg Gate and Alexanderplatz.
