What is it like to live in Berlin? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Accommodation is fairly expensive and transport, while very frequent, is also not cheap. Unlike London, there is no way to choose slow cheap buses rather than fast, expensive rail travel. The city is well sign-posted and strangers are helpful with advice and directions. Libraries help foreigners. This email costs me nothing in a municipal library.

What is the student lifestyle like in Berlin?

Lively, it seems, but I do not speak from personal experience, as I am an 87 yr-old private researcher.

How much does it cost to live in Berlin?

I pay 810 E per month in a cheap pension far from the centre. Transport costs me 81 E per month, food approx 7 E per day.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Berlin? Is there any advice you can give?

Start looking early in Zwischenmiete sites, rather than Wohngemeinschaft sites, if your stay is to be weeks or months only.
Even there, it is easier if you are young and seen as "cool"

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

As a frugal person, I favour Turkish and Asian basic-price dishes.
My time on this computer is running out
