What is the student lifestyle like in Berlin?

You can have everything from Hippie to traditional, from German to Turkish!

How much does it cost to live in Berlin?

Compared to the rest of Germany the costs in Berlin are low, nevertheless finding a room or flat for a good price is difficult. If you plan to live in Berlin for a while you should consider around 300€ - 800€ for a room (pending on where you want to live, 60€ for a transportation pass, 40€ for phone and wifi and maybe at least 200€ for alimentation.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Berlin? Is there any advice you can give?

Yes, it is difficult to find an accommodation in Berlin. You need to check Facebook, Zimmer gesucht, and other platforms to find something and should be prepared to do an interview with the other habitants of the flat. In addition, lots of places want documents that show that you can pay the rent.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

Berlin has everything, but the most typical is Currywurst and Döner. Both are cheap fast food and very tasty.

What places would you recommend visiting in Berlin?

Visit all areas! Go to the Wannsee, discover the Grunewald! Take a short trip to Potsdam and its castles! Go through the inner city and discover German history at the Checkpoint Charlie. Look at the German wall from the Oberbaumbrücke and take a beer in the streets around Warschauer Straße and many many more!

Berlin has everything, so the best is to check for example google for the spots near you and try something.

Is the nightlife good in Berlin? Where is good to go?

It is definitely great, but I am not a party girl, so cannot recommend specific bars or clubs.

What advice would you give future students heading to Berlin?

Calculate your money well as there is so much to see and do in this city! Go out, visit places!
