To improve my german.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

It lasts 5 months and I receive 500 € altogether.

What is the student lifestyle like in Berlin?

Always have somewhere new to hang out. Crazy night life.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Berlin to other students?

Definitely.

What is the food like?

It has the best kebab of the world. A lot of cheap food (burritos, kebap, sandwiches... )

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Berlin?

It cost me patience and time. It is hard to find a place to live. Come here earlier and post on Facebook.

How much does it cost to live in Berlin?

It depends of how many roomates you have. Between 300-500 euros i would say.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

Everyone speaks english in Berlin and there are german courses with the university all year.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Berlin from your city?

Easiest: plane (50-80€ with low cost compagnies)

Most economical: train, but it's a long trip.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Berlin?

  1. Klunkerkranich (bar roof top).
  2. Badeshiff: if it's warm enough.
  3. Boat bar next to east side gallery.

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Berlin?

Ruya kebap next to Julius Leber Brücke in Schoenberg. Best in town.

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

  1. Tränenpalast.
  2. Rittersport shop.
  3. Gendarmenmarkt.

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Berlin in the future?

  1. Come earlier to find an accommodation.
  2. If you don't precise the size of beers in bar you'll get half a liter (is good to know).
  3. Bottles are recyclable, you get money for bringing them back.
  4. Trip to Prague by bus is just 19 €!
