Why did you choose to go to Berlin, Germany?

I love Germany and this city was the natural first choice!

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

I had no scholarship.

What is the student lifestyle like in Berlin?

I think Berlin is a great city for students, although I was there almost four years ago, so things might have changed. Public transportation is easy and good living situations can be found, although apartments in the city center are expensive. Food and entertainment can be amazingly cheap, though.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Berlin to other students?

I attended Humboldt University for only one semester, and I believe I don't know it well enough to recommend it to other students. I would definitely recommend the city, though.

What is the food like?

All types of food can be found in Berlin, as it is a very multi-cultural city.

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Berlin?

I stayed in an expensive room (350 euros a month) in the very center of the city. Much cheaper accommodation can be found on the outskirts of town.

How much does it cost to live in Berlin?

Depends on the place you find. A furnished room for temporary housing three years ago was about 150-350 euros, depending on location.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

The language is not easy but a wonderful challenge. I attended language courses at the university's language center that I would HIGHLY recommend!

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Berlin from your city?

I live in the USA, so I flew internationally.

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Berlin?

There's a little Thai restaurant in P-Berg, I think it's called Rice Queen... definitely worth a visit.

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

Don't miss the Holocaust Memorial, especially in the evening when it's lit up.
