How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

I receive a 6 months scholarship for around 4000 €.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Berlin to other students?

Yes, this city is definitely worth it! Although, be careful of the tough winter.

What is the food like?

You can find every kind of food in Berlin!

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Berlin?

Finding an accomodation is a big challenge in Berlin...

How much does it cost to live in Berlin?

Berlin is quite expensive but is still cheaper than Paris or London.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

German is difficult, if you have some basic knowledge, you can access some courses of the Uni! But most people speak English, so you can survive, even though it's better to learn German!

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Berlin from your city?

The fastest way is by plane. However, it depends of where you are from.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Berlin?

There are plenty of choices! Berlin's nights are full of surprises.

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

There are a lot of museums if you are interested in art, wars... There is even a spying museum! Moreover, there are plenty of small cultural events too.

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Berlin in the future?

  • Berlin is a really big city, so don't be in a rush to go from A to B, because it will probably take you 1 hour if you're not living in Mitte or its surroundings!
  • Finding an accomodation is a real struggle but there are some websites that can help you, like Spotahome, WG-Gesucht, or even groups on Facebook!
  • If the weather is nice, it is really a beautiful city!
