Why did you choose to go to Berlin, Germany?

Job opportunity, it was supposed to be better balanced in disposable income.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

PhD salary for 3 years.

What is the food like?

If you like light vegetable-based food, you'll be disappointed. German food is generally heavy, sausage based and heavily processed. Edible but heavy on stomach.

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Berlin?

Skyrocketing, expensive and difficult to find. It's getting worse with each month. Cheap accommodation is highly competitive, almost impossible to get by newcomers. Be careful. There are plenty of scammers even of legit property websites. Do not use Facebook to find accommodation.

How much does it cost to live in Berlin?

Disposable income balance is better than say in Paris or London but gap is closing fast. Expensive accommodation will bleed you for deposit and monthly rent. Transportation cost are very good and food is also cheaper than in France, UK or Ireland.

Public transport, car sharing.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Berlin?

I try to economize so don't go out often.

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Berlin?

In Dahlem.

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

Potsdam and Dahlem Dorf.

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Berlin in the future?

Think way ahead about accommodation. It's very stressful here. Ask your university for assistance. Be careful about scammers.
