Brother-Sister Italian Trip

There is some kind of creature inside me, that makes me move. "Don't sit in one place girl"- it says. So as a nice girl I always listen to this creature-this inside feeling and I start to dream about places I wish to see. This time was the same...

I, as quite experienced traveller, am looking for cheapest way to travel. So I found really nice opportunity to fly to Italy! And since I know my brother Marcin always wanted to see some abroad countries, I told him about this cool promotion of Ryanair company and we flown away!

Our destination city was Bergamo. Of course we read a lot before our trip. I planned it in every aspect, starting with accomodation, food, places to visit and including the financial plan. Everything was settled! The best this was that it was my brother`s birthday coming!

So we went to Italy day 18th of November 2011. Our trip was about to last 4 days (3 nights). We ordered online a youth hostel in Bergamo, because it was cheaper than to live in some bigger city like Milan. We spent there 2 nights. At that time there was promotion that the second night was for free, so we payed in total 50 euro for 2 people per 2 nights, means 1 night costs there normally 25 euro. This hostel is located kinda in the end of the city, almost in the foot of mountains. But when we took the walk in the city getting know it better-it turned out that it's not that far in the end.

This is a beautiful view from my hotel room`s window, isn't it great?

Accomodation terms were very good, our room was clean and warm (cause it was kinda cold outside) and there was delicious breakfast every morning fullfilling us for the whoole day (ok, maybe not that much). Down there you can see some examples of delicious italian food, everything is worth trying (especially italian pizza and wine).

We started our visit with seeing this small city Bergamo. It's not that popular and you don`t hear that much about it when somebody mentions Italy, but it`s really worth seeing!

I'm ready for my trip to begin! Are you?

The city is situated in the north of the country, in Lombardia. It's distant about 40 km Milan-the capitol city of this region. Of course we had plan to visit Milan (of course) but we read that Bergamo is the best way to feel the italian atmosphere. And the internet oppinions didn`t make any fools of us. We were happy as never walking narrow stoned paved streets smelling leaves fallen from the trees with the sun above our heads. City of Bergamo is amazingly beautiful, it is situated on the hill.

In the background of this picture you see the Bergamo's Old City-Città Alta.

So the city actually got 2 parts: the old one on the hill and the new, modern one down the hill. We started with the older one, because of it's historical meaning and more amount of monuments to see. You cannot take it from Bergamo. It has some charm that makes you feel like in a fairy tale.

So me and my brother we visited some museum, churches, castle. We`ve seen castle`s walls, fountains, main square, traditional food shops-everything smelled italian! I couldn`t be more happy.

Isn't this view just stunning? It`s City of Bergamo-view from the city part located in the hill to the downtown.

And the language! I love how it sounds! (Maybe becuase it's similar to my beloved Spanish, and my new beloved portuguese? ). People were so nice to us trying to tell us some instructions how to reach particular places we wanted to see. Some of them even didn't speak English, but still they tried to be nice and helpful. I was charmed by that atmosphere! I didn`t learn anything new cause I already known phrases like Buongiorno, but still: Grazie Bergamo!

We spent totally 2 days in Bergamo. Actually was 1 full day, then 2 mornings in the row. Then we moved to another italian cities. But about that in my next story.

What would be Italy without its Vespa motobike? or pizza!?
