What is it like to live in Bergamo? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

living in Bergamo is really nice: it's a pretty small city but it has a lot of beautiful places to visit.
The upper town is perfect if you want to go for a walk or a run with a breathtaking view.
i would totally recommend staying in bergamo because it's a quiet, but beautiful, city and with the right people can be also really fun!

How much does it cost to live in Bergamo?

the house rent can be expensive in the very centre of the city or in the upper town, but since the city is pretty small and there are a lot of buses finding more affordable accomodations shouldn't be a problem.
regarding meals, there are some places that can be quite expensive, but overall it's pretty simple to find bakeries or restaurants that are way cheaper and still really worthy.
i would recommend asking for advice to students or people from Bergamo if you want to go out for lunch or dinner.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

there's a great variety of restaurants, from classic pizzerias to bakeries, neapolitan restaurants, pubs, and traditional restaurants were they make polenta and casoncelli which are two of the most famous and traditional dishes of our city, that i really recommend trying!!

What places would you recommend visiting in Bergamo?

the first thing you have to visit is obviously the upper town, a walk on the ancient walls is always a nice way to spend an afternoon or an evening. in the upper town there are a lot of amazing places, one example is San Vigilio, a castle situated in a strategic spot from where you can see the whole city from above!
in the main street of the upper town (via gombito) there are piazza vecchia and piazza del duomo, two majestic squares that are worth a visit.
a really cool museum is Accademia Carrara that always hosts beautiful and interesting exhibitions.
there are also a lot of parks around the city where you can study or relax.
if you feel like doing something different in the areas near Bergamo there are also a lot of amazing natural places like lakes or mountains where you can go on excursions with your friends.

Is it good to eat out in Bergamo? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

one of my favorite restaurants is Circolino in the upper town, they make pretty much everything you could desire, from traditional dishes to pizza, meat or vegetarian meals.
a great place if you want to experience the traditional atmosphere of bergamo is "da Giuliana", it's very close to the city centre and it offers a lot of traditional dishes at a very affordable price.
there are also a lot of pubs where you can eat, they are not that characteristic but when there are football matches, in particular when Atalanta plays (our city's football team),they are a great place to spend you're evening with a lot of young and fun people. my favorite ones are "tucans", "rituals" and "pub sant'orsola".
