Hello everyone! I was born in Belo Horizonte (or Beautiful Horizon), Capital of the Minas Gerais State, and I'll tell you a little about this city whose name describes one of the most beautiful sunsets! Surrounded by mountains, Belo Horizonte is a city with receptive people and great food. The city's climate is mild and suitable for those who like to socialize and enjoy craft beers and the best tipic brazilian food: there is about 10 thousand bars! The traffic is intense and public transport is chaotic, but people are very willing to help and give information.

What is the student lifestyle like in Belo Horizonte?

One of the best public universities of Brazil is located in Belo Horizonte, the Federal University of Minas Gerais - UFMG. Students also have State University - UEMG - and great private universities. They can rent apartment near the University or try the student accommodation offered by UFMG. The cultural program for students and visitors is intense: there are film festivals, music, art and gastronomy, and beautiful nearby cities to visit!

We have lots of delicious food, made ​​with onion and garlic. We have all kinds of meat, prepared in many different ways, beyond the specific cuisine - Italian, French , Argentinean, Japanese , Chinese, etc. My favorite food is barbecue... Hummmmmm... Another delicious food you'll find here: feijoada, feijão tropeiro, caldo de mandioca, canjiquinha, joelho de porco, some cheeses and typical spices. Brazilian fruits are also very special, like açaí, guaraná, jabuticabam goiaba and cajú!

Is the nightlife good in Belo Horizonte? Where is good to go?

Some options: Bars, theaters, shoppings, nightclubs, thematic parties, and the Carnaval (if you come in february).
