What is it like to live in Belo Horizonte? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

I liked Belo Horizonte a lot, mostly due to brazilian people who live here, "os Mineiros", they are so kind and friendly

What is the student lifestyle like in Belo Horizonte?

It depends, if you don't have so much study you can enjoy a lot, everyday with events, parties and trips all around the city, but if you have a lot of study, well, you risk to sleep in the university :) (that is good anyway, because I loved the Campus UFMG).

How much does it cost to live in Belo Horizonte?

Living here is quite cheap if you know how to avoid the excess, it depends on the needs, but on the average approximatively € 400 (including everything)

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Belo Horizonte? Is there any advice you can give?

It is very very easy and it's quite cheap, it is very easy. If you study in UFMG Campus you should rent a flat in the aera of Pampulha (Ouro Preto, Liberdade etc), otherwise you can search for a flat in the centre area (like Savassi etc..) but it depends on you. I suggest to search for FB pages (RepublicasBH, RepublicasUFMG etc..)

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

I loved brazilian food: it is delicious even if it quite heavy in general. I just missed some specific food of my country, but it is normal.

What places would you recommend visiting in Belo Horizonte?

BH is full of distractions and cultural events almost in every part of the city, there are some museums to be visited in the central area.

Is it good to eat out in Belo Horizonte? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

Personally I prefer not to go so many times in restaurants but if I have to suggest something, that's "Bacon Paradise" located in Bairro Ouro Preto.

Is the nightlife good in Belo Horizonte? Where is good to go?

Yes it is. BH is full of bar and clubs in the Area of Savassi.

What advice would you give future students heading to Belo Horizonte?

Don't be shy, brazilians are the best opened persons. Live the campus during your study and at night go there for party, there are a lot.
Just get ready and be patient with the transports..
