The city is great. It is a huge city with a small city feeling. I would definitely recommend it. The city is surrounded by beautiful mountains and the weather is always sunny and fresh.

People from Belo Horizonte are well known for being the most welcoming people in Brazil and they very kind and friendly indeed.

What is the student lifestyle like in Belo Horizonte?

Student life is great. Many bars and pubs all over the city comprising a large range of prices for all pockets.

How much does it cost to live in Belo Horizonte?

I would say you can get by with 1000 reais (Brazilian currency), but if u get slightly more would help your social life.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Belo Horizonte? Is there any advice you can give?

Not many people speak English over there, so a piece of advice would be to get in touch with students at the University and ask them to help you out with that. They will be more than happy to help.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

Belo Horizonte is the capital city of Minas Gerais which is well known for having the best food in Brazil.

For breakfast or afternoon snack I would suggest the delicious local cheese bread. As for lunch, I would suggest "feijoada" which is a mix of pork meat and black beans. Yummy...

What places would you recommend visiting in Belo Horizonte?

It is worth to take a trip to "Serra do ciao" where there are many amazing waterfalls and it's just one hour drive from the city.

Get to know people at the Uni and you will be just fine. Try to learn about local food and have fun.
