What is it like to live in Beirut? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Beirut is a city full of life. You will find everything you need at any time of the day.

Public transportation is not too developed, so owning a car or living near by is the best choice to get around. Calling a cab is a good option too to avoid parking fees.

You will find endless options for restaurants, bars, night clubs and coffee shops.

Also, should you feel like going to the sea/mountains, they are all a short road trip away from the center of Beirut. So a nature refuge is always a great choice after the long working hours.

What is the student lifestyle like in Beirut?

Enjoyable. Depending on the area, you will pretty much enjoy the entire Lebanese lifestyle.

How much does it cost to live in Beirut?

I guess 1000 to 1500$ should be fine to survive.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Beirut? Is there any advice you can give?

You can find several types/sizes of accommodations in Beirut so it shouldnt be hard.

Evidently the closer you get to the city center the more expensive it gets.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

The food is great. One of the best gastronomical experiences you can have.

We have a large variety of reataurants, in several hip areas in Beirut and its close suburbs. (Lebanese, Japanese, chinese and Italian are the most common/popular)

Places serving just desserts are becoming more and more available to satisfy chocolate cravings.

There are always available 24/7 restaurants near by.

My favorite dishes are definitely lebanese traditional mezza, as well as Italian.

What places would you recommend visiting in Beirut?

I will recommend the areas that contain several choices of restaurants/bars:

Jemmayze, Mar Mkhayil, Badaro and Centreville if you are looking for a drink or pub resto mainly.

Dbaye area has a large variety or restaurants (try "The Village or "The Backyard" for a gathering of pubs and restaurants)

Byblos is another major city in Lebanon, a must see.
