Experience in Beirut, Lebanon by Ali
What is it like to live in Beirut? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?
Beirut is a nice city, but honestly i think it is way too populated and traffic kills the joy.
well I don't recommend living in beirut since it is expensive, i would rather recommend to spend your time there.
Usually the city is full of amazing and expensive shops such as Rolex, Armani, Adolfo Dominguez, Aïshti, Mango, Atamian...
Expensive it is but beautiful.
What is the student lifestyle like in Beirut?
Students often spend there time partying, because in beirut you need to pay for everything not much of free stuff that you can do.
You can go hiking and camping but that would be stuff that you can do outside beirut.
Yeah almost forgot no free beaches!
How much does it cost to live in Beirut?
On a daily basis if you prepare your own food at home you might spend around 10$ or 15$.
If you don't, well you're going to see so many zeros in your bills; )
Usually transport cost around 1. 4$ and we call it service.
Sometimes it might take you two services to reach your destiny so its 1. 4$x2 = 2. 8$
You might say its not expensive, hey remember its not a taxi, its a car where 4 people get to ride it with you and each one with a diffrent destination.
More like a school bus!
Is it difficult to find accommodation in Beirut? Is there any advice you can give?
Accomodations in beirut are expensive, you can find cheap ones if you get out of beirut and always remember that lebanon is a small country and its normal for people to live outside beirut and work or study in beirut.
But usually people live in shared accomodations and you can use a local internation app called OLX to post a sharing.
Is it good to eat out in Beirut? Can you tell us your favourite spots?
Beirut have got a wide variety of cuisines (chinese, italian, lebanese, turkish... )
My advice, stay away from expensive places such as "Roadster Diner, Classic Burger, Zaatar w Zeit, Grand café, petit Café, le pecheur )because a normal meal could Reach a cost of 50$.
Favorite spots:
Hamra Street ( plenty of cheap shops and food)
Ashrafiyeh (Amazing architecture and people)
Sodeco (If you want to spend a good night)
Zaitunay Bay
Beirut Souks
Monnot Street
Uruguay Street
Is the nightlife good in Beirut? Where is good to go?
Nightlife in beirut is one of the best worldwide (check google if you have a doubt).
Clubs are all over beirut from Skybar to white club, Simply lebanese people love to partaayy!
