Beirut is beautiful party city with a great weather and good gastronomy. lack of good public transport and the electricity shortages are negative points.
What is the student lifestyle like in Beirut?
It is not as international as in Europe but this is a good side cause it gives a chance for the foreigner students to explore the countries culture.
How much does it cost to live in Beirut?
Beirut isn't cheap. 1000$/month
Is it difficult to find accommodation in Beirut? Is there any advice you can give?
depends on the area. Better to avoid the Western and southern suburb (not all avenues are safe).
What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?
All kind of cuisines are present. but Lebanese Gastronomy is the best of the best. Not cheap but worth the price. Favorite dishes: Lebanese mezzé: tabouleh, hummus, kebbe, falafel, knefe etc.
What places would you recommend visiting in Beirut?
Downtown Beirut with its Mosque's and Churches, Raouche's Rock, National Museum, Mar Mkhayel Street, Hamra Street, Zeytouna Bay. Road trips from Beirut are the best experience: Jeita Grotto, Harissa, Byblos, Chouf, Taenayel.
Is it good to eat out in Beirut? Can you tell us your favourite spots?
Hospitality sector in Lebanon is very developped, food is good and service is awesome. But expensive (not less than 15$ for a good meal in a good restaurant).
Is the nightlife good in Beirut? Where is good to go?
Beirut is a party city, from rooftop bars to bomb shlter transformed to nightclubs and everything in between.
What advice would you give future students heading to Beirut?
visit the surrounding cities and places in Lebanon. Watch out from dangerous suburbs. Don't be too naive. Make Lebanese friends.
