An Ode to Barcelona, a Recreational City!
My Barcelona of wonders!
Barcelona,
Recreational city!
Barcelona,
Impressive city!
Yes, it forces looks and contemplation,
More than a sting, an invitation to delight.
Ah, Barcelona!
Barcelona of wonders…
Between its rustic colours
Its antique architecture
And its unusual places
Barcelona gives a smile that we would see again in Catalonia
Barcelona, unique in the world
Barcelona gives…
Its culture carved in the marble of its cultural spaces,
Barcelona gives…
Its history sculpted in her museums, gardens and monuments,
Barcelona gives…
The largest natural park to the world
Parc de Collserola, with its incredible mountainside and flora
Barcelona gives…
The master Gaudí’s soul in his architectural dexterity
The opposite of Parc Güell and its unusual charm
Far from the shrill cries of the legendary Camp Nou
And its equally monumental museum
In Barcelona, I have seen
Shows as far as the eye can see
Portraitists and caricaturists in the streets
From ‘Las Ramblas’ to the old port and Christopher Columbus
In Barcelona
The rituals and folklore fill the streets
The human towers, men and women, living bricks for castles
And the small child who crowns it, the cherry on the cake
Barcelona,
Popular and visited city
Barcelona,
Crowded city of a plural world
Crossroads city, multicultural city
Yes to Barcelona
The Catalan language, you’ll hear it here,
Here I have discovered Sant Sebastià
The beach with cafes and local cuisine
Here I have discovered paella
Fideua and many others that make it a friendly place
Barcelona,
An invitation to work
Barcelona
Everything is linked with speed by her metro, railways and trams
Recreation is still possible at work
Ah, Barcelona!
By far the showcase of Catalonia
Barcelona,
My impressive and recreational city
Barcelona,
More than a sting, an invitation to delight
Yes Barcelona,
You force looks and contemplation
Ah, Barcelona!
My Barcelona of wonders…
Barcelona, recreational city!
Between its rustic colours, her impressive architecture and her unusual places, the capital of Catalonia has very little to envy about the rest of the world.
Impressive architecture!
Indeed, Barcelona is full of modern cultural spaces which allow you to quickly soak up the country’s culture. I really like its museums, gardens and monuments which are full of history. If you visit Barcelona, don’t run quickly to the Camp Nou football stadium, it’s necessary at all costs to start by visiting the Parc Collserola, which is one of the biggest in the world. It’s a natural park in the midst of a truly precious mountain range with all types of plant species and I assure you that the walk is worth the effort. What’s more, I’m fond of its famous architecture, works of the master Gaudí, which never cease to peak my curiosity, notably with his altruism and unique style. Parc Güell is without a doubt the strangest and most unusual garden that I have ever been to and this is what makes it so charming.
Shows on every street corner!
What struck me most about Barcelona were the many street shows and the portraitists and caricaturists who you meet on the metro or during your stroll down ‘Las Ramblas’ to the old port, where the majestic statue of the famous Christopher Columbus can be found. During festive periods, there are many traditional processions and cultural and folklore practices that take place on the streets. The dances are very popular in Barcelona and I had the opportunity to watch a ‘human tower’ being erected. It’s impressive to see the agility of these young men and women, not forgetting the small child who ‘crowns’ the tower.
The city is simply very popular and visited, which is in itself really amazing. Indeed, it’s astounding to see a mad world all over the streets of the city centre and to revel in the myriad of languages that reach your ears from every street corner.
Relax next to the sea!
I particularly enjoyed the walk to Sant Sebastià beach, which is littered with cafes and restaurants whose local specialities, including seafood paella and fideua, are there to be tasted.
However, the city has something stressful about it because the activity never stops: in the streets, everyone is in a hurry, traffic is heavy and public transport is almost always crowded during the day. Despite this slightly depressing picture, the city boasts lots of attractive places for relaxing, which allow you to check in with yourself.
Barcelona is deserving of its title as the most modern city in the country, and for my part, as a recreational city!
