What is it like to live in Baku? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Baku is multicultural city where you can meet so many different nationalities. It is very safe also and you can feel the mixture of Europe and Asia.

What is the student lifestyle like in Baku?

There are plenty of discounts for students to eat or entertain. Also so many cafes and libraries to visit.

How much does it cost to live in Baku?

Should not be more than 300-400 euro per month

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Baku? Is there any advice you can give?

It would be easy to ask from companies to find you the accommodation but then they charge you as well. Or from the university fellows as usually, they rent an apartment and share it with others. In some universities there are dormitories.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

Food is very rich there, and easy to find other cuisines like Georgian, Russian, Italian, and Asians.

What places would you recommend visiting in Baku?

Old town, Shopping street (Nizami Street), H.Aliyev Centre, seaside park.

Is it good to eat out in Baku? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

It is tasty and cheap to eat outside in restaurants dedicated to locals (not in Nizami Street as it is mainly for tourist).

Is the nightlife good in Baku? Where is good to go?

Nightlife can be good if you have a local person with you to take you nice clubs. Otherwise, some clubs which are visible from outside (with poster etc.) might be tourist trap and expensive. Best clubbing might be in nearby Nizami Street, and flag square.

What advice would you give future students heading to Baku?

Try to learn some local words to greet and say thanks in their language. People are very friendly and always willing to help you. Prices are relatively cheap and there a lot to do and see in the Capital.
