What is it like to live in Baku? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Baku is a very beautiful city. There are a lot of things that we can say about Baku. Restaurants, clubs, theatres, cinemas, malls, etc. Baku is known also as the city of winds.

What is the student lifestyle like in Baku?

There are many universities in Azerbaijan. Most of them situated in Baku. We have many international students. About lifestyle we can say that it depends on the student, for example, students free to join any club or some other communities.

How much does it cost to live in Baku?

Baku is a city of contrasts, or oppositions. Living in Baku may cost like in European cities.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Baku? Is there any advice you can give?

Regarding accommodation, you need to do research because it depends on in which side of the city you want to find. In the city, center accommodation is higher than in remote. In advice, I can tell you to check it on websites.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

Azerbaijan cuisine is very delicious and piquant. I can list Dolma, Qutab, rice with different kinds of sausages, Bozbash, Dovga, etc. Also there a lot of sweets from national cuisine.

What places would you recommend visiting in Baku?

There many places to visit in Baku and generally in Azerbaijan. In Baku:

  • Maiden Tower
  • Shirvashakhs Palace
  • Boulevard
  • Ateshgah

The seaside, cinemas, theatres, restaurants, clubs etc. And little far from Baku, there is Yanar Dag which means "burning mountain".

Is the nightlife good in Baku? Where is good to go?

Nightlife is very interesting and active in Baku. So you can visit clubs like Pasifico, Opera Sky, Public, etc. Also, there are many pubs like Finnegans, Shakespeares, etc.

What advice would you give future students heading to Baku?

People here very welcoming and you will feel yourself very nice.
