Amsterdam. 1-st day
Amsterdam is a shot! What a city! There are so many canals and bridges that you can easily get lost! Every place looks almost the same. Everywhere you go you have a deja vu, it's like you've already been there. And then comes feeling of being lost and that's the scariest feeling at that time initially, but then you realise you can't get lost there. It's Amsterdam, it's Europe! How can one get lost there!
And so you walk across the bridges and find this city an amazing place to live, or to visit for a period of time.
The very first thing that captures your sight is the architecture. The buildings are just something you can't take your eyes off of. These are maybe five store buildings with triangle-shaped tops. And they are coloured so right! I mean, looking at them you feel calmness and excitement and amazement at the same time.
Well, I don't know much about Amsterdam, because I only spent a few days there, but I will tell you my impressions on it.
It was a nice, warm, November day when we came to Amsterdam by train from north of Netherlands. People looked busy. There were some of them shooting a short film, they invited us to be tourists in their film and so we were perfect for tourists as we had huge bags and backpacks with us.
There were many taxis outside the train station. I think most of the drivers were from Turkey, well, at least ours was. He told us about tourist attractions in Amsterdam and he also mentioned what a great hotel we had chosen. It was "Hotel de Paris" and it was in the city center.
Our first day in Amsterdam was going great. We took our bags to our rooms and then decided to go out and walk in the streets of Amsterdam. "I'm an Englishman in New York" ( I remembered this song by Sting).
Everything seemed calm, everyone knew what they were doing. Well, the first day was not really a day, because we arrived there in the late afternoon and it took us some time to get ready and relax a little and unpack and stuff like that. And it was not until we went in our room that we felt tiredness.
Then in the evening we felt hungry and decided to go outside and look around and eat something. We walked from one street to another and so on, until we saw some restaurant that was really nice and good-looking and so we went in. Turned out it was a Turkish restaurant. So, Turkey was our guide on that day! We ordered many things and I must say they were pretty delicious!
After that we went to see other things around, and we found many interesting shops and places where we could drop by the next day as they were already closed. Most of the places close there at 7 p. m. I guess.
There was a big "I heart Amsterdam" near the Bulldog bar. The trees were decorated for Christmas with Christmas lights and you could smell the smoke of weed because of a coffeeshop nearby. There was some old lady's birthday and she was seated in a chariot and girls made some tricks with fire like they do in circus. And grandma seemed really happy. And her dress was all shiny and her eyes were sparkling.
It was a great November evening, full of promises and happiness. We were out there walking, taking pictures, admiring Amsterdam lifestyle and architecture and canals, etc.
