What is it like to live in Amman? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Yes i would recommend it!
Amman is a city with two parts, eastern and western. The eastern part is the old one with many old jordanian houses and cafes with the traditional theme. The western part is a modern part with very nice buildings and modern malls and cafes where you can hang out and have fun.
Trasportation is eaither by cars, taxis, or public buses. No trains. And walking is kind of difficult due to the geografy of the city which is mountins and vallies.
It is very safe and secured to live here. People are very friendly and helpfull.
Most of the citizens speaks english which makes it easy to communicat some of them also knows french.

What is the student lifestyle like in Amman?

Students in Amman spend their time shopping or having fun in the cinemas and coffee shops. For architecture students there are many archeological sites to visit.
There are several universities in the area and sevral dorms for students to stay.

How much does it cost to live in Amman?

If you want to rent a studio it might cost about 300 JDs per month. You might find less or more than this price but this is the average for a studio or small apartment.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Amman? Is there any advice you can give?

No it is not difficult, you might visit some sort of offices that provides several types if accommodation or you might check online. You can stay in a hotel for about 4 days while you like for a suitable accommodation

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

You can find approximately all food types. Rice, pasta, pizza, burgers or seafood.
The main dish is mansaf. Amman is popular for falafel and shawerma sandwiches anyone coming to amman must try them!!!!

What places would you recommend visiting in Amman?

The archeological sites in the city center.
The streets of the city center.
Abdoun, swaifyeh with it's modern styled coffeshops.
The malls.
Jerash, petra, dead sea wadi al mowjeb

Is it good to eat out in Amman? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

Yes it is very good !!
Firefly burger offers great chicken and beef burgers
Abu jbara have the best falafel !
Mostly all of the food shops offers very good food with great prices.

What advice would you give future students heading to Amman?

Amman is a great place to visit.
It might get a little bit cold at night.
You should try falafel!! And knafe!
You should visit downtown and the new abdali
