No not at all there's many options on airbnb and couchsurfing

The food here is amazing, as I said before the variety of cultures provide a variety of food. My favorite traditional dish is Mansaf.

What places would you recommend visiting in Amman?

Petra, Wadi Rum, Wadi al Mujeb and the Dead Sea are a must

Yes yes and YES! You differently should try shawerma from " Shi Shawerma"," reem","Karam". Burgers here are a big thing you could try "soul food", " burger makers", " Pow Burgers", " Firefly " and many many more...
