Experience in Amman, Jordan by Mohannad

What is it like to live in Amman? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

It is very interested city with very special taste of architecture. The mountains gave the city very nice view of streets and places.
Of course it would be nice experience for European especially almost all people there speaking English.
It is mixed city between Ottoman civilization and modern city.

What is the student lifestyle like in Amman?

I can say it is quite big deference lifestyle in Amman. The thing which I like there is people are friendly at universities and always they help each others and in few days you can make a big numbers of friends at the university.

How much does it cost to live in Amman?

It is very expensive to live there. For my experience, for normal life it can cost about 600 EUR/month with accommodation.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Amman? Is there any advice you can give?

Of course not, there is a lot of accommodation from 1 star till 5 star.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

In Jordan we are famous in one meal which is called (Mansaf). It's rise with special kind of yogurt, and lamb. Also we are famous in Olives and Olive oil.
My favorite dish is Mansaf :D

What places would you recommend visiting in Amman?

There is a lot of interesting places in Amman, The old city, Roman amphitheater, Cafes and Bars in general.

Is it good to eat out in Amman? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

Yes it is good. I think in Abdoun and 6.Roundabout you would find a lot of good restaurants.

Is the nightlife good in Amman? Where is good to go?

Actually it is not so good. There is few bars in Abdoun which is can be good.

What advice would you give future students heading to Amman?

People in Jordan are very friendly, be with them and they will take you as one of them :)
