Too much free time

After I had fulfilled my bucket list during the days before with my German friend, I wanted to focus on spending as much time as possible with my boyfriend. I had only one week left in Amiens, and everything I could think about was how much I would miss him back to Germany, and how afraid I was of that time after France. Even if we didn't spend so much time together but most of the evenings and sometimes a day at the weekend, I really liked my life like that. I loved our time together, the fun, the discussions, our running sessions - simply everything! The only problem was that I didn't have anything to do in France after I had finished my semester and all the exams and I started to be bored a bit. Because of his thesis my boyfriend had to work a lot during the day and we only could meet to pass the evening together, so I had a lot of time for myself.

Most of the time I spent watching series, reading French books (which really took a lot of time) and thinking about how our relationship would continue in the future. I thought a lot about what to give him as present the day I would leave - it had to be something he would not forget, something that would remind him of me until we (hopefully) would see each other again. I was still not sure how serious he took our relationship, sometimes I really believed that there was a future for us, but sometimes I also thought that it was too difficult and that he might prefer an easier relationship. But that was something I could only know later on and I could not influence that much. I only knew that I definitely loved him and wanted to keep that relationship.

Walking around the city centre

The day after I had visited the top of the cathedral with my German friend, I didn't really know what to do. I wouldn't clean the apartment anymore before the day I would leave, because it was only one week left and it didn't make any sense to clean it now. But after I had watched all my series, I started to organise my things a bit, thought about what to take to Germany, what food was left, what I had to cook and what I still had to buy. I had brought almost everything from Germany, because in the car I had a lot of space and I could save some money when I didn't have to buy all that. But now I would have preferred to have less things because I was thinking about bringing all that down to the car without elevator - the elevator was there, but it was only working upstairs, not downstairs. I also had bought a lot of things - clothes, books, a printer, things for university. But at the moment it was too early to pack already, so I took the bus into the city centre and walked a bit around the shopping street. I didn't want to buy anything (I already had to many things to bring home), but I liked the atmosphere in the city centre and I would miss that wonderful French city. I had a "pain au chocolat", a kind of croissant which I was (and am) simply addicted to.

Crêpes and more with the English Girls

When I was about to go back to the train station to take a bus back to the student's residency, I met the three English girls. They told me that they wanted to have a Crêpe in La Croustille, and go shopping afterwards and invited me to join them. As it was my last week and I really wanted to spend some more time with them, I agreed and joined them. We sat down in La Croustille and ordered our Crêpes. They had the best ones in the whole town and I would miss them a lot - I wasn't able to make Crêpes by myself, it was already difficult to make pancakes for me. We enjoyed our Crêpes and talked about many different things. For me, sometimes it was difficult to understand them when they were talking to each other in English. They were from the US, Scotland and Australia and they were talking in different dialects which made it impossible to understand everything. But as my English is quite fluent anyway, I understood them, I was just missing several words from time to time. It was never boring with them, we had already been bowling, to cafés, at Erasmus parties, in the Parc Saint-Pierre and many other things.

After our crêpes we left the café and the girls started their shopping tour. I didn't want to buy anything, but I thought it might be a good idea to come with them as I didn't have anything else to do. So we went to almost all the interesting shops in the pedestrian's zone of Amiens and I tried to help them with their decisions. They would all stay some more time in the French city, but two of them would also leave the end of June. We had a lot of fun during our shopping afternoon, but after a while I decided to leave, because shopping without buying anything can be quite difficult.

Same procedure as every evening - Couple Time

I went to the bus stop next to the train station and took a bus back to the student's recidency. Back to my small room I created a shopping list and took my car to go to the supermarket and buy some groceries. French supermarkets are incredibly huge most of the time, and I always spent at least one hour in there, even if I already knew where to find what, but there were so many other interesting things that I always spent hours to look for new things. After a while I finished my "trip" through the supermarket and returned to my room in the residency. The supermarket was only some minutes away from the residency, but as I had my car I wanted to use it - water is quite heavy. I prepared something to eat in my favorite kitchen that I loved so much (irony off) and relaxed a bit watching things at my laptop.

In the evening I went to the city centre to pick up my boyfriend as usual - I was happy that obviously he wanted to spend as much time as possible with me, too, before I left. It was the same thing as always, we bought something to eat, went to my apartment, had dinner and watched a movie. He asked if it was really necessary to leave already, and I told him that it was, that I had to spend some time with my family and to organise some things before I would go to Tenerife in the end of July. I would have loved to tell him that I would stay longer, just to be with him, but one thing that was very important for me, was not to change all my plans just for a man. I loved him, yes, a lot. But at that moment I didn't know how serious he took that relationship, and I didn't want to take any quick decisions without knowing that. First of all I had to finish my studies, afterwards when we were still a couple, I could think about changing my plans for him. But that was still almost two years in the future. Quite crazy to think that it might work out, but who knows? When he was really "the one" it might be possible, so I stayed optimistic and didn't stop to hope.
