Getting back to life after the illness

After my two weeks of illness I was so happy to feel better again that I started to eat more fruits and tried to cook fresh things. But the cooking problem kept being there, because in a shared kitchen with about 25 people there are always some people who don't care about cleanliness and leave the room in an incredible mess. There was a cleaning lady that came to the kitchen once a week, but the remaining 6 days it was just disgusting to cook there - everything was sticky, the sink was full of sauces or similar things and I just didn't want to touch anything. But anyway, I tried to cook more often and also hoped to get to know some of my neighbours in the kitchen, but they were not quite open-minded and just hungry, so they didn't really talk to me.

I had a lot to do the following weeks, because I had to recap what they did in the courses, had to get the notes, read everything, look for words and learn for the next Marketing test. It was a lot to do, but I didn't mind because the second week I wasn't ill anymore there were holidays, so I had a lot of free time. And the week after that my boyfriend would come some days to visit me. I was really excited and planned some things to do - Paris (of course), going to the sea, watching seals etc. So I wanted to have everything finished for university before he arrived because I had courses when he was there and I couldn't miss any lecture after my flu.

Arrival of my Boyfriend

The day he arrived was a Friday. The whole day I was excited, went to the supermarket, cleaned up my tiny room, washed my clothes and watched series in order to let the time pass. Finally, I received the message that he was there. I rushed out of the residence and welcomed him. I was so happy that he was there after the two weeks of flu, because I felt really alone and helpless during that time.

Because it was so sunny, we decided to go into the city centre for the first afternoon and I was excited to show him around my little new home. Even if he wasn't that interested, I was happy that he was with me finally. So we ate something and enjoyed the first afternoon reunited.

Exploring Paris

The next day we had planned to go to Paris - I had already bought the train tickets before - and so we had to get up early. That's not his biggest strength and due to the 90 cm bed it was a night with little sleep because we didn't have space to sleep. But I didn't care. We took the bus to the train station and went about 1 hour by train to Paris. It was a nice, sunny day and it was not too cold. It's hard to see Paris in one day, but I had already figured out a good route to see the most important things. So we passed the whole day walking and taking the metro, going from Montmarte to Louvre, to Eiffel tower and to Arc de Triomphe. It was exhausting and cold to be outside for such a long time and due to budget reasons we ate at McDonald's and finished our stay with a stroll at the Champs-Élysées, some shopping and a final visit at Notre Dame.

Before going back we left the Metro at "Les Halles" and I got totally lost because the metro station has about 25 exits and I didn't know which one to take. The people I asked there couldn't really help me neither but after 20 minutes we finally found the exit. We were both tired, cold and stressed, so we went into a small café, drank something and started our way back to the train station.

Le Havre

The next day, Sunday, we wanted to go to Le Havre, a city that is famous for its history and the harbour in the Normandie. It was about 200 km away, but with my boyfriend's car it was fast to arrive there (because he didn't really care about the speed limit at French Highways). It was still very nice weather and I liked it to be at the sea. We walked along the beach, visited the city centre a bit and ate something. We discovered the centre (not on purpose actually) because he didn't remember where we put the car. But finally we found it and after having visited some panorama spots we went back home because we were still tired from the Paris trip the day before.

University Life with a Visitor

The following days were a bit less stressful because I had to go to my courses and learn a bit in the evening, so we didn't do many things. I was tired all the time because I couldn't sleep well in the small bed together with him. But it was nice that he cooked for/together with me and I wasn't all alone the whole time. Finally, he had to get back home, so I had to say goodbye again. He was a bit weird, but I didn't mind and thought everything was okay.

I was a bit sad that he was gone but 10 days later my Dad and his girlfriend would arrive, so it was okay. I had some time to recover university things and sleep a bit more and then I would pass some nice days with them. My boyfriend told me that he was happy to be back home again because he didn't like France and he was jealous because I was writing with my French friend (he called it lover... ) all the time. I was shocked because he didn't say anything while he was with me and suddenly it was all a big problem. But well, I didn't really care because there was nothing going on with the other guy so I didn't do anything wrong. Some days later he accepted that, fortunately. I hate jealous people.

Time with the "French Lover"

In the meanwhile I started to go jogging with my French friend, because I wanted to do some sports again and he said we could go together. It was quite funny and he was very motivating, I liked to pass time with him. We could talk about a lot of things, I could improve my French and I helped him doing the English homework for his course. I even read a part of his thesis because it was in English in order to correct it a bit. During the week we went drinking coffee or in the evening to a bar in order to watch a soccer match. He was like a "best friend" for me in France and I was happy to have somebody like him. To laugh, to talk, to write.
