A route along the Amalfi Coast: Amalfi and Positano. Charming and idyllic.
Hello!
Welcome once more to this blog, where everyday I show you places and more places to visit and discover, told through real experiences.
A little time ago, I had the luck of visiting the beaches along the Amalfi coast. I can't say anything about them, because anything I say is too little; and not only their beaches, but also the villages surrounding these beaches. Spectacular!
For me, I can say that it is the most beautiful coast in the Meditteranean. There is the possibility of exploring all of the km of the coast, as well as enjoying the incredible landscapes of towns nestled in the mountains and cliff is priceless. Travel to the Amalfi Coast!
My trip was short but wonderful; I explored Amalfi, Positano y Sorrento. It left me with a desire to see a lot more, therefore I will return.
My advice is to rent a car so that you can move around and enjoy all of the km that will leave plenty of views seen. Despite there being places that are quite complicated to park in, so much so that it is easier to walk, having a car will give you the liberty of seeing more places in a day.
You can also go from one location to another by boat, which will allow you to explore many more places. Of course, you have limited hours and it depends on more factors to move from one place to another.
Amalfi
I started the route through Amalfi, they told me it is supposedly the city founded by Hercules as a gift to one of his lovers, and it should be added that it is also known as the Ancient Marine Republic of Amalfi. .
Within the city of Amalfi we can see the Duomo Square, the Cathedral of St. Andrés, Duomo Crypt. Impressive!
Are you hungry? We went by the San Lorenzo de Amalfi Street and into one of its many "trattorias" (bars) where we could have something to eat; everything was tasty.
On our route, after eating, we decided to go into one of its many alleyways, and get away from the noise of the people and thus approach the Amalfi coast to enjoy the paradise and its crystal clear waters.
A boat trip to the Gruta dello Smeraldo! I would advise it to you.
Positano
Let yourself be dazzled by the beauty of Positano; it deserves it. You won't believe what you're seeing until you miss it; it doesn't look real, it looks like a movie (moreover, in some movies they have left the alleyways). It's the jewel of the Amalfi coast, the most popular.
The houses are built on the rocks of a cliff, that's what makes Positano charming and beautiful.
Don't forget to visit the beaches of Fornillo in Positano (I don't think I'll ever visit it again, but not because of how beautiful it was, but because of all the steps you have to go down and up to enjoy it) or the beach "Playa Grande", The beautiful views of the island of Capri and the islets of Gallo Lungo and Castellucio from the beach will amaze you.
By the way, make sure you don't forget to enjoy a good cold limoncello listening to the sea in the background; how good it made me feel.
For me, it's clear that what stood out most out of all the cities I was passing through was the beaches. I have always considered that the tourism in Southern parts of each country is beach tourism. However, in Italy it can't be any other way. They leave you amazed with their beaches, but at the same time they leave you astonished with the beauty of their monuments. And, of course, Positano... Not only did I like the beaches, but also the dome of the Santa Maria Asumpta Church, and all those stairs you have to go down and up if you want to stroll among its colorful houses. Enchanting!
See you in the next post! Cheers.
