Erasmus Experience in Almeria, Spain by Nicole
Why did you choose to go to Almeria, Spain?
Because I want to go far away from my house, and Almeria looked a great place, specially for the beach, the weather and food.
How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?
For 6 months. I don't recieve any money for living costs, people that comes from America don't receive money and I pay my things myself
What is the student lifestyle like in Almeria?
The life is relax, you can go out from uni and go to the beach that is just 5 m from the uni! The uni is good, and people is really nice!
Would you recommend the city and the University of Almeria to other students?
Yes I would, is such a great place but I think that is better come in summer to enjoy the beach!
What is the food like?
Is good, for all those people that like seafood this is a great food for it!
Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Almeria?
No! I found my Flat in two days! I live in the center and I like cause is full of shops, restaurants, supermarkets...
How much does it cost to live in Almeria?
Is really cheap! You can find a flat for 150 euros, but I don't that there are cheapest ones... the food is really cheap, so you won't spend so much money!
Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?
Yes! there are Spanish courses in the uni
What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Almeria from your city?
I'm not living really near from Almeria, cause I come from America lol, but I think plane from madrid is the best option and cheaper than direct flight to Almeria, also cause the airport isn't so big so there are just some direct flight but is expensive...
Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Almeria?
The Erasmus place.... La clasicaaaa
And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Almeria?
I really liked la cabaña del tio tom, the best tapas For me are there! And the prices are really good! You can eat such a big Tapa for 3 euros.
What good cultural sites are there to visit?
Alcazaba I think is one of the most representative places in Almeria to visit! Is really beautiful!
Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Almeria in the future?
Enjoy a lot! Don't take so much serious the uni! And travel all around spain!
