Rubén's Experience in Alicante, Spain
What attracts you to living in Alicante? Do you recommend it? What's it like?
It's pretty good as there are lots of beaches and there is also lots of nightlife. I definitely recommend living there. I also recommend living in one of the towns a little bit outside the city where there are fewer people. San Juan beach is a good option as there are good public transport links with buses and trams.
What's the student lifestyle like in Alicante?
I don't study in Alicante so I have no idea.
How much does it cost to live in Alicante?
I was born in Alicante, but I live in Busot and San Juan so I can't give you much information. Personally, I like living in more peaceful places. Although of course, if you want to go out at night, or go to the beach and shopping centres, Alicante is the best place to go to.
Was it difficult to find accommodation in Alicante? Do you have any advice?
I don't live in Alicante.
What’s the country’s food like? What are your favourite dishes?
Very good. I recommend the paella and all the different types of rice dishes, the pasta, octopus and sardines.
What places do you recommend visiting in Alicante?
Busot and San Juan beach are really pretty places.
What about eating out in Alicante? What are your favourite places?
100 Montaditos, Cowboy, Conan etc.
Where do you recommend for nightlife in Alicante?
The area of the old town (El Barrio), which is the oldest part of Alicante and is an area where there are lots of bars where you can have a good time. When El Barrio closes, I recommend continuing the party on the port as it offers a similar environment and stays open until 8 in the morning.
