What is it like to live in Alicante? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

I guess Alicante has one of the best climates in the world. No industry, clean beach and sea, mountains in the countryside, and over 300 sunny days. There is a nice old town with lots of bars and discos. Food is good and cheap, especially the Menú del Día for 8-10€, including wine and coffee. You can do everything by foot. But bus and tram will also take you through the city. Airport is very near and reachable by bus.

Conclusion: a city to live in!

What is the student lifestyle like in Alicante?

You can study hard or enjoy your life. If you are cool, you can combine both.

How much does it cost to live in Alicante?

Depends on your life style. If you don't go out every day you can live easily with 600 Euros per month.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Alicante? Is there any advice you can give?

There are a lot of accommodations. Flats and single rooms. To find a new apartment in a central and also quiet region where you can concentrate to study in peace, is maybe not that easy. You'll have to check the proposals.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

Mediterranean food: fish, but also meat. Paella, arroces. There is also pizza and Chinese food.

You find international restaurants. I know also a small Brazilian restaurant, and one African style as well...

My favorite dishes are Arroz a banda, fish and having snacks at Mercado Central, especially Saturday afternoon.

What places would you recommend visiting in Alicante?

The old town, the harbor, the beaches (San Juan, Campello), the mountains with an old castle, Elche and much more.

Is it good to eat out in Alicante? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

Yes, but you can also cook for yourself (and friends). Best quality food is at the supermarket and Mercado Central. You'll find the best restaurants in the old town, the harbor and at San Juan (romantic with sea view).

Is the nightlife good in Alicante? Where is good to go?

It's excellent, you have to try it out. Valencia night life is even better, but Alicante is cool. You also don't really need to wait until the night; on Saturday afternoons you can join the crowd at the bars around Mercado Central. Fiestas never sleep in Alicante. In the summer go also to Isla Marina. Cool parties (sunday afternoon or in the evening). A party practically on top of the sea.

What advice would you give future students heading to Alicante?

Enjoy life and have some money in the pocket. If not you will maybe miss chances of your life.
