Nuria's Experience in Alicante, Spain

What attracts you to living in Alicante? Do you recommend it? What's it like?

It's a very nice city to live in. It is big enough to have everything you need, but at the same time, it is small enough to make living there simple and easy to get to different places in a short amount of time. It is very well-connected and we have an exceptional climate, which is good for those who prefer the heat!

What's the student lifestyle like in Alicante?

For students it is perfect; there are always people in the street, there's a great atmosphere, lots of bars and they're all in good locations. It is also perfect for travelling from here, as it is well-connected by train, bus and the airport (which you can get to using the public bus service). The university isn't far and the schools are all in the centre.

How much does it cost to live in Alicante?

It is not expensive nor cheap, the prices are pretty normal and there are always lots of offers so you can choose how much you want to spend.

I live here.

What’s the country’s food like? What are your favourite dishes?

Very good. Here, there are all types of foods. The best fruit and veg, wines, "turrones" (nougat), fish... you can find all kinds of foods. It's a bit more difficult to find organic products and they are more expensive, but you can buy them in some places.

What places do you recommend visiting in Alicante?

Santa Barbara Castle for the views, the old town and the Ereta Park, the Explanada, San Juan beach, the coves of Cabo de las Huertas, and you can also visit towns near to Alicante like: Altea, Benidorm, Villajoyosa, Denia, Calpe, Orihuela, Murcia and Valencia.

What about eating out in Alicante? What are your favourite places?

There are lots of places where you can eat something cheap that's good quality in the centre, on Castanos Street, Aledanos Street and the Rambla.

Do you have any advice for future students in Alicante?

Study, party, sightsee, go to the beach and go shopping, but don't forget to study.
