What is it like to live in Alicante? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

I'm not exactly living in Alicante. I'm living in San Vicente del Raspeig where the university is, but I've been in Alicante quite a few times. It's not my favourite city from all the cities I've been to, but for being a big city it is quite quiet and you don't really need much transport to move around the city because in the city center they have pretty much everything you need. I recommend Alicante though.

What is the student lifestyle like in Alicante?

As I said, the student lifestyle is more considerable in San Vicente where the majority of students live, but still it is a cheerful place and has lot of places to go out. There's this part of the city calle "El Barrio" that if you're a student you might enjoy, but you must be careful with thieves.

How much does it cost to live in Alicante?

It's not expensive, and compared to other cities or countries, the cost of living in Alicante is really good.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Alicante? Is there any advice you can give?

I was lucky to be living with my classmates, we found a 2 floors apartment right next to uni and it wasn't hard to find this accommodation. There are always webs where you can find apartments or you can just take a look around the city while you stay somewhere else.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

As a Spanish person, I love the food we have. You can find a bunch of international restaurants. My favourite dishes are the Spanish omelette and the paella.

What places would you recommend visiting in Alicante?

El Castillo de Santa Barbara for sure, when you're on the top you have a beautiful view of the city. El puerto, and the beach, those are beautiful.

Is it good to eat out in Alicante? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

It is really good to eat out in Alicante in general. You totally should go to "los 100 Montaditos".

Is the nightlife good in Alicante? Where is good to go?

It is really nice but you need to be careful as I said before. In Alicante you can go to the Barrio (Parabarap for example) and in San Vicente you might go to Ikebana on a Thursday night.

What advice would you give future students heading to Alicante?

Just try to enjoy your experience and don't be shy, we Spanish people love to make new friends and will love to show you part of our culture.
