Why did you choose to go to Aalborg, Denmark?

Because its engineering faculty more concretely acoustics is very good.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

I didn't receive any scholarship. I was not erasmus, I just enrolled to the University as an international student.

What is the student lifestyle like in Aalborg?

Durung the week, you work a lot. The educational system relies on selfwork, not too many lectures, exercises after each lecture normally and a group project each semester. Lectures hours are reduced along the semester and project hours (you and your group) increases. Due to the deadline of the project handing in, as the end of the end of the semester aproaches, you will feel the the amount of work hours also increases. Teachers in Denmark are very considered about your free time, so weekends are just thought for you to take advantage of them and enjoy them doing whatever you like the most. There are always parties in private houses (where everybody is invited). Studenthouse is a ver cool place to meet and take a coffee, and of course The Street which is famous in Denmark and I would say all Scandinavia, is plenty of bars and pubs!

Would you recommend the city and the University of Aalborg to other students?

Yes of course, considering that is Denmark, Aalborg is a small town, but it has everything what a student needs.

What is the food like?

Well, we live in a global world so in the supermarket you will find food from all the world. I would not say Denmark is famous for its gastronomy, I'm from Spain, we are very proud of our grastronomy specially when we're abroad, but I have always found what I needed in the supermarket. You don't find too many kinds of fresh fish.

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Aalborg?

I've lived in three different apartments. One private and other two with IAO (International accomodation office). Private is not very difficult to find once you are in the city, however is quite expensive if you want to live in downtown. Also you will probably need someone who can help you with the contract if you don't know Danish. IAO helps a lot at the beginning when you don't know the city, however I've heard a lot of complains from students regarding IAO. They rely on private houses which are rented to you through them, and sometimes there are people paying quite the same than others for very different quality accomodations.

How much does it cost to live in Aalborg?

600 - 900 Euros / month

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

Danish is a very complicate language. There are courses available in the university and in the Komunne. Good thing is that EVERYBODY speaks english.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Aalborg from your city?

I live in Cartangena, so by plane from Alicante.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Aalborg?

The street!

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Aalborg?

Sorry, I cannot recomeend anything........ student's budget is quite tight.

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

.......... well the street.... :). Sorry but I didn't like the viking cementery.

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Aalborg in the future?

Enjoy the city as much as you can. Enrolled in the trips which IAO offer. Take advantage of the university ald their labs as much as you can....... Spring is very beautiful and you should see Aalborg Carnival!
