Why did you choose to go to Aalborg, Denmark?
Aalborg university is one of the best in research and development in energy and electrical engineering. Furthermore, Denmark is a very good country and universities are connected to industry. Aalborg is a student city and you can find a lot of friends here.
How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?
my scholarship was 300 euros per moth for 5 month of my stay. If you are comming from Italy there are more scholorships that you can apply for.
What is the student lifestyle like in Aalborg?
It is pretty awesome. You will attend to classes just for two month and a half and the rest you will work on your projects. On friday nights every week there are almost wonderful events and parties. you can also enter to your room at university outside working hours by your card.
Would you recommend the city and the University of Aalborg to other students?
for sure. You can both have fun and learn practically in Aalborg.
What is the food like?
famous danish foods are mostly cookies and sweets. Denmark is not so famous for the food!
Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Aalborg?
I pay 380 Euros each month for the rent. I found My accommodation from international desk of the university and I had to pay 3 month plus 2 month rent for the deposit in advance but it is included. Also you can find rooms in AKU website.
How much does it cost to live in Aalborg?
For me it was 200 to 300 Euros per month if I did not go travelling without the rent.
Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?
Danish is almost difficult to pronounce and learn but there are some free course like Elsk Aalborg that you can find in Facebook. But the one from commune is almost 200 euros per semester.
What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Aalborg from your city?
I traveled here by airplane but there are flixbus and other transportation services. As Aalborg is a small city, It is difficult to travel cheep here. The only cheep flight is to London by Rayanair.
Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Aalborg?
there is a street which is called Jamfru where all the bars are there and almost always is full of people. Student house is also a good place to hang out with your friends and walking near the water in canal is highly recommended.
And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Aalborg?
Food is quite expensive but you can find cheep food in MC Donald and burger king and my favorite restaurant is the Chinese ones.
What good cultural sites are there to visit?
You should visit the music park just over the train station and museum of modern arts, music house for concerts which some of them are free and also good cinemas are in Aalborg which is cheeper for students.
Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Aalborg in the future?
You can have both fun and learn here. Do not forget to bring you warm cloths!
