What is it like to live in Grenoble? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Grenoble is a nice city at the foot of the Alps, interesting for skiing and other mountain sport, however the mountains make the awful weather in the summer with intense heat.

Besides, Grenoble is a student city, the first student city 2013/2014. There are many activities to do. I recommend Grenoble, for those who come to study there.

What is the student lifestyle like in Grenoble?

The student life in Grenoble is great, after the courses of the day, if the weather is beautiful, the campus and its greenspaces will be the place where student find themselves, otherwise no panic, if the weather is bad, Grenoble possesses numerous bars, during winter universities can propose afternoons in ski.

And at night the city continues to live with its parties and its bars. Certain universities (Pierre Mendes-France, I do not know for the others) do not have courses on Fridays (or little), so student parties begin from Thursday evening.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Grenoble? Is there any advice you can give?

I don't think so, as I can see there are many accomodations in the campus, but if you want to live outside of the campus maybe it can be difficult.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

In Grenoble you will find many Italian restaurants (because of the proximity with Iatly), but also Asian restaurants, many kebabs.

Concerning the local dishes, you must try the "Gratin Dauphinois" and "Raclette", the first is based on potatoes and crème fraîche, the second is based on potatoes with some cheese and charcuterie you can add other things like vegetables.

I have no specific advice, maybe if you plan to drive in Grenoble, take care, some places are always under construction, and the traffic is slow.
