Ixelles is located in the suburbs, but it has a history dating back to the 13th century. It also happens to be home to both French and Dutch-language Free Universities of Brussels, which are a 20-minute tram or bus ride away. There are a few popular sights nearby, including the Ixelles Museum, which showcases European artwork. It’s a 10-minute walk away. The European Parliament is also only 18 minutes away on foot.
