If you enjoy shared living, the comfortable rooms to rent in this ground floor 3-bedroom apartment on Grünberger Strasse will suit you fine. There isn’t a main living area and the bathroom, although nice, clean, modern and shared, isn’t exactly a meeting place. This leaves the kitchen as the social commons and grand central where you’ll bump into roommates. It’s not a wide kitchen, but it’s fairly long with a window at the end. Everything is white and bright, except for the oven, stove, and small appliances, which are chrome. It’s clean and efficient, and it has a washer/dryer.
Friedrichshain is a neighborhood along the Spree River with an alternative vibe. Your apartment is a 20-minute walk away from the river, which means you’re not too far from the nightlife. There are popular clubs, bars and restaurants at the riverfront, and plenty closer to home as well. Park Boxhagener Platz can be reached in a minute. It’s a nice little green square to relax, and it’s surrounded by regular markets where you can pick up an assortment of items. There is a vegan restaurant on the edge of the park, and a vegetarian one near the Intimes Kino cinema. This early 20th century single-screen theater is wonderfully retro, and you can catch new and classic films here.

- There are quite a few bars and nightclubs in the area.
