Rainy afternoon in Zadar

Lately I've been, I've been losing sleep, dreaming about the things that we could be... Replay button all the time, clothes drying on a little electric heater with a very specific inscription: do not cover, a cup of coffee, gray sky and rain outside.

It would be nice and cozy afternoon if I didn't have to go to an interview for a job that I probably won't even get. This morning I already had one interview and it was the funniest one I've ever went to. Here is how it went:

The interview was at 10 am. I told myself I'll wake up at 8 am, eat breakfast, drink coffee, get all nice and ready. Of course, I got up at quarter to 9, no breakfast, no coffee, barely got time to put on some mascara. It was raining outside and my face went dark: I knew how this was gonna work. My flatmate had a class so I went with her half of the way because it was on my way anyway. We were complaining all the way, getting more and more soaked. You see, rain in Zadar is terrible. I hate it. Hate it, hate it, hate it. In all the seasons except summer, of course. The thing with rain in Zadar is that it's never, but never raining without the wind. It comes in a package, rainy and windy. And no umbrella will help you. Before I thought I just needed to have a big, strong umbrella, not the shitty small ones, but when the wind broke the strongest umbrella I changed my mind.

Of course, I wasn't smart enough to look when are the buses for that direction where I was going, but then again, to that area buses go very rarely. I know that because I was living there for 2 months, it's 3 minutes from the last apartment I was living in. Anyway, I was soaked when on the half of the way to the interview. The second half of the way my umbrella got so broken and pathetic that I just folded it and continued with the hood on my head. I reached the place 10 minutes earlier, looking like a poor homeless/shelterless child. I stepped into the "office", grateful that it was warm and dry but instantly irritated because there was this one girl in the room. Personally, I don't know her much, I talked to her a couple of times in my life, maybe went out once with a company she was in, but I have this strong feeling of dislike for her. I don't exactly know why, with some people it's just like that. So when I saw her there, as one of the candidates for the job, it annoyed me. She wasn't even competing for the same job because there were several different positions, but still.

Then, they told me to sit down, and I sat directly in the chair of the president of the company. He was in the other room looking for a glass for me, and I sat my little ass down on his seat. Ok, when he saw me, he laughed and told me I can sit on the other chair. Then he introduced himself and shook my completely wet hand. I would have wiped it in my jacket or pants, but they were wet as well. Nice start.

But the interview went crazy. The two guys, who are from the continental part of Croatia as me, were laughing all the time, the other guy was literally crying. It was an interview but it definitely didn't feel like that. It was relaxed, funny, it was like when you find yourself in company of some people you don't know but feel like you know them for a long time. In short, their company (or maybe I should say association) named "Dijamant" (diamond in English) is a new one in Zadar and they are promoting cultural values etc. What they are doing are different courses; currently they have a course of learning how to play guitar and synthesizer, but they are planning to have many more. One would be course of English language, that's the one I applied for. French as well, if there'll be any people interested. Basically, I got the job, if there will be people attending. So now it's up to that...

I spent 2 hours on the interview, there was another girl that applied for yoga courses, but it was so much fun that it felt like 10 minutes. I was late for my class so I just didn't go. Instead I walked home (there was no bus, of course) and got itsy-bitsy lost. Well, I missed the turn so I walked around a little bit. After all, it was a gray rainy day and I was cold, so why not? Apparently I was supposed to get itsy-bitsy lost because on the way I met one girl from our ESN who told me she got Erasmus in Brno, where I spent a year, and then I met an old man I used to work next to two summers ago when I was booking tickets for boat excursions. I didn't see that man in a while, it was cool to meet him again. He always made me laugh (even when he was bothering me and wouldn't stop talking).

Finally I got home, took a hot shower, fried some eggs, made coffee... Perfect. And now I have to go back into the rain, at least for a little while, like I said, I have another job interview, this time something for Bnet. I wonder how will that go...

So I came back from that interview. It was quite interesting, if I ignore the fact that it didn't go very well. The first thing was that I went there totally unprepared. It was the interview for Bnet, a company that covers Internet, mobile networks, TV and all that combined; I didn't even check their Internet page. Of course, the first thing the pretty lady who interviewed me asked was if I knew anything about their business. Well, I admitted that I don't; she didn't say anything. Instead, she asked me what mobile operator I am currently using, what options do I have etc., and then she told me to sell her my mobile operator.

I wasn't really expecting that, so I just listed her all the great options my mobile operator is offering. Then she told me what I did wrong and continued about some other stuff. After she asked me if I ever had a mobile operator that I was very unsatisfied with and me, stupid, answered I did and named it. The moment I said that, seeing the look on her face, I realized that mobile operator is actually the owner of their company. Well, there was no way back anyway. I explained why I didn't like it, and then she told me about this one option they are offering and told me to sell it to her. This time I remembered what she told me was wrong with my first try of selling, so I did better. She was satisfied. I don't know, she asked me lots and lots of questions and her face was most of the time without any expression so I couldn't figure out which answers were good and which weren't. In the end she told me she has to interview other students that applied and that she'll let me know next week. If they take me, I have to pass a complete training that will last a couple of days. I hate it when they say they'll call or let me know. Most of the times they don't. But I have a feeling this one will, even if I don't get the job.

In the meantime, I'm applying to every job offer I see. My flatmate got the job in a bar now, so I'm actually thinking how it would be cool to work as a bartender or a waitress, a couple of hours per day, plus the tips... The best thing, especially if you don't work full time. I'm starting to feel positive about this whole thing now.

Now I gotta get my ass off the couch and buy some beer and chips, tonight is the semi-finals in handball, Croatia vs Denmark. European championship. It's gonna be a tough game. A crazy one, methinks. Well, in any case, it's gonna be a great thing to get my mind off some other stuff that I'm trying not to think about. And... lately I've been, I've been losing sleep, dreaming about the things that we could be... Replay button all the time again, I wanna get sick of this song so much.
