Generally, what is Yildiz Technical University like?

YTU is one of Turkey’s leading universities and oldest universities with a long history of 100 years. YTU offers 10 faculties and two institutes on three different campuses, all of them located in Istanbul; Davutpasa (the biggest), Besiktas and Gaziosmanpasa. I study at Davutpasa Campus. I like there so much. It is really big and green. You can see some historical building and maybe take lessons at there. At the beginning, Davutpasa was a military barracks.

What are the facilities like?

In Davutpasa, we have 7 or more cafes which you can hang out with your friends after the lectures. We have sport facilities, but sometimes gym prices can be very expensive for students. Ytu gives students many facilities like some health, student coincil, different student clubs. These are what i remember.

What are the tutors like?

I can only talk about Control and Automation engineering depertmant, i do not know well other tutors. In my depatment, numbers of male tutors are higher. Generally, they are gratuated from YTU Electrical Engineering. They are all very good engineers, but half of them not good tutors.

Are the lessons easy in Yildiz Technical University?

I think, engineering is not easy at any University. So the lessons are hard :(On the other hand, i like my major)

Does the University organise activities? If so, what are they like?

University does not organise activities. Last spring they organised a festival, there were three concerts and there was a funfair. But student clubs are very active. They organise many activities.

Do you think there is a good quality of teaching?

In Turkey, we who study at YTU are lucky. We have good tutors and university facilities. But teaching is not enough, we must study hard.
