Erasmus Experience in Warwick, United Kingdom by Hedi

Why did you choose to go to Warwick, United Kingdom?

Warwick is one of the best universities in the world and is very well known for both its courses and its student life. In fact, it should be known that it has the Warwick Arts Center where many events are organized. Moreover, it has more than 260 societies that are concretely the equivalent of student associations in France.

How long is your stay? How much help do you receive?

My stay is for ten months and I receive the equivalent of 950 euros per month when you consider the various grants that have been given to me.

How is the student atmosphere in Warwick?

The student life in Warwick is great. The students are quite open even if sometimes it's difficult to speak with the natives. It's a feeling that I heard a lot from other Erasmus both French and foreigners.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Warwick to other students?

Coventry is a small town, where there is clearly nothing to do so I don't recommend it at all. On the other hand, I recommend 100% the University of Warwick which is well above those that are recognised in France.

How is the food in this country?

Not as good as in France.

Did you have trouble finding accommodation in Warwick?

No, I found it on a site called Spareroom. It was fast enough to find even though I regret a little that I chose this house which is kilometers away from human life.

What's the cost of living in Warwick?

About the same as in Paris which means quite expensive.

How is language learning? Have you been to language classes organized by the university?

In terms of language, it improves slowly even if there are a lot of French students on campus.

I think there are language classes but I've never been there.

What is the most economical way to get to Warwick from your city?

On foot. I live 20 minutes from the campus.

Which places would you recommend to party in Warwick?

Leamington, it's a city next to Coventry and great if you like to party, clubbing or have a drink with friends in a pub.

And to eat in Warwick? What are your favorite places?

Wagamama on Leamington but otherwise I haven't tested a lot of restaurants because it's a luxury when you are a student.

And what cultural tours do you recommend?

Warwick Castle, Stratford-upon-Avon... But most of all, you have to go to other regions. London is only two hours by bus so it's ideal to go during the weekends.

A tip for future students in Warwick?

Go to the societies, choose your accommodation well, and enjoy it to the max because once in France it's a lot less fun!
