Master student's experience in Wageningen, Netherlands by Ioannis

What is it like to live in Wageningen? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

I would definitely recommend to live and more importantly study in Wageningen. Its quite, but very green and life is very well organized. Parties are also happening usually, but life starts and ends in the weekends if you are doing your Master. Erasmus students usually have a better time than permanent students.

What is the student lifestyle like in Wageningen?

Its ok during the weekends. Generally there is small variety of entertainment activities, and most people are joining groups with mixed international people and have fun together.

How much does it cost to live in Wageningen?

Food outside and living costs are rather high. The rest are normal for a european country.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Wageningen? Is there any advice you can give?

Very difficult, especially in the beginning of the academic year. Search for an apartment a long time before arriving, and also consult the student housing offices of the university because they can also rent student apartments for relatively good prices.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

Be prepared for a mixed cultured food, without noteworthy Dutch specialities.

What places would you recommend visiting in Wageningen?

Take a bike tour around all the city. It is easy to reach and nice to see.

I rarely do it, at the weekends. Usually people are cooking and eating at their own places to save money.

Is the nightlife good in Wageningen? Where is good to go?

Not really. Its average I would say. Only a few clubs, and pubs exist.

What advice would you give future students headed to Wageningen?

Be prepared for a lot of studying, and cold, but also multicultural experiences and a lot of fun with students from around the world.
