What is it like to live in Venice? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

It's a nice place to live in. Yes. A small city with a number of islands, canals, bridges and historic architectures. I like to walk in the narrow streets in Venice.

What is the student lifestyle like in Venice?

There are fewer international students in Venice as compared to other cities. Probably, that is the reason, the student life is not so dynamic. There are some problems like student accommodation and language barrier.

How much does it cost to live in Venice?

It depends on life style. You can find single room from 250-300 in Mestre (the mainland part of Venice) and slightly expensive in Venice. A bus ticket is for 1, 50 (for 75 minutes) and 6 Euros for boat, however, students can buy a one year travel card for 220 Euros. Food is quite expensive in Venice but is cheaper in Mestre and some fast foods restaurants in Venice. Comparing to other cities like London and Stockholm (where I have lived), Venice is expensive.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Venice? Is there any advice you can give?

Yes. Expensive and difficult to find. The best advise is to look yourself online on sites http://www.subito.it, http://www.kijiji.it, http://www.easystanza.it and/or contact other students.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

Italian pizza, pasta and number of other local and Chines foods. I like and eat Pakistani foods (at home and in Indian and Pakistani restaurants), however, I like pasta the most in Italian foods.

What places would you recommend visiting in Venice?

Lido, San Marco Square, Accademia bridge, Rialto...

Is it good to eat out in Venice? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

I prefer to eat at home due to high prices, otherwise, it is reasonable in some fast food restaurants in Venice. If you are in Mestre, you can eat at cheaper price everywhere.

Is the nightlife good in Venice? Where is good to go?

Yes. Rialto and San Marco square.
