Why did you choose to go to Venice, Italy?

To learn Italian and to be in the most unique city of the world.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

I receive 335 euros per month.

What is the student lifestyle like in Venice?

You hang out with your friends at each other's houses, bars.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Venice to other students?

Of course I would.

What is the food like?

There are so many touristy restaurants 'pizza and pasta', but you should look for the good local restaurants. Only Italian, and bacari with cichetti.

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Venice?

It is very difficult. I recommend you to start looking for accomodation couple of months before your arrival.

How much does it cost to live in Venice?

Venice is very expensive if you don't know where to go. If you know where to go and if you cook at home, then it's just the same as in Belgium I think, so 500 euros per month or so.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

La lingua Italiana non è facile, ma se sei in grado di leggere questo testo allora gìa sei un pezzo avanti.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Venice from your city?

From my city in Belgium, it is better to travel by plane of course. But in the city itself, the best way to get anywhere is by walking.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Venice?

Just build your own party with your close friends drinking wine.

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Venice?

I could yes, haha, but restaurants are expensive, so I go to all the bacari.

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

That is a stupid question to ask in Venice. When you walk outside of your door, everything is culture.

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Venice in the future?

Learn Italian, learn how to cook, search for a place in the center buy good walking shoes and don't buy anything from street merchants.
