Why did you choose to go to Venice, Italy?

I wanted an unusual city with a similar language (I'm French) to learn it easily during my Erasmus year, Venice matched these two points!

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

I had a scholarships for my whole Erasmus year, so 9 months.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Venice to other students?

Yes, I do! The university is really good, you can study in Italian or in English (even in both languages) and the Italian university system is really good, you can take the same exam several times, you don't have to go to class (not mandatory) which is perfect when you're Erasmus and want to enjoy time abroad.

The city is just awesome! Tourists will not be there during winter and you will enjoy the city like never!

What is the food like?

Pizzas are so good! The "mensa" (student restaurant) is ok.

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Venice?

The first semester I was in a student residence, prices are attractive. The second semester I shared an apartment with other students, it costs a lot but it's the best way to enjoy life in the city, I think!

How much does it cost to live in Venice?

A little bit less than 1000€/month (I'm sure you can spend less, it's just that I did a lot of parties and trips! ).

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

As I'm French it was not so difficult after few weeks. I did the EILC class during the summer which are free but you also have Italian classes during the university year, one semester is divided in 2 parts so you have 4 parts for the whole academic year: 4*100=400 for a year of Italian class!

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Venice from your city?

Airplane for sure!

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Venice?

Campo Santa Margherita to drink a spritz or two.

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Venice?

The same! You have a nice pizzeria on the Campo.

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

The city is full of museums and Palazzi to visit, after one year I still have so much to discover.

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Venice in the future?

The best experience ever! Don't hesitate to go, it's kind of awesome to explain that you went to university by boat everyday.
