Experience in University of Porto, Portugal by Rita
Generally, what is University of Porto like?
University of Porto has a wide diversity of students from across the country and the world. It is the Portuguese city with more erasmus students. It is also recognised as an excellent university.
What are the facilities like?
Depending on the faculty you're going to, you may head to really new buildings or old ones. However, usually they are very well equipped. I studied at FEUP an ICBAS which are quite recent and provide all resources needed for succeeding in university.
What are the tutors like?
Usually tutors don't distinguish erasmus students from portuguese students (they give lectures in English! ). So if you are expecting them to be more tolerant and pass you easily, don't go to Porto. They take their jobs really seriously. Therefore, they are exigent and also helpful.
Are the lessons easy in University of Porto?
I guess it depends on what you are studying. I don't think they are superdificult or easy. You need to work, that's all.
Does the University organise activities? If so, what are they like?
Yes. Usually each faculty has an association to promote activies, but besides that, University of Porto has also ESN, which has a looot of activities all year.
Do you think there is a good quality of teaching?
Yes.
